3,679,091 Loads of Dishes

Oh my god is it ever hard to face certain moments in our lives with strength and composure, but trust me when I say years from now you will wish you hadn’t wanted to rush this time away or gone into ‘auto pilot’ mode.

Whether THIS TIME has you drowning in diapers, bottles, spit-up and tears (yours OR the baby’s), you are going through the terrible twos, flipping fours, or the dreaded sh*tty sevens, or if your time is growing short with someone someone dear to your heart I ask you to read this;

Please do not rush through this, for when the time comes be it a year from now or a day from now when you want to play back every memory you were able to grasp onto, you’ll want to be as present now so that these memories are as clear as possible… when you wish away your struggles you may also miss out on precious moments with these people who touch our souls with their light.  Regardless of how long we are graced with their presence – for only the blink of an eye or an entire lifetime – it will never be enough.

The daily grind of working to pay bills, making breakfasts, lunches and dinners, cleaning up after the little people (and the grown up people), the 3,679,091 load of dishes you’ve done this week, and even the 10 foot stack of laundry waiting to be folded are all moments that will eventually fade away.

One day we will not have someone to watch over us, care for us, worry about us the way our mother, father, grandma or grandpa used to and the world will feel a little bit bigger as your family dynamics grow a little bit smaller.

The dependents in your life will one day no longer be dependent on you, and as much as right now it may seem unfathomable you will miss being needed, miss taking care of someone to whom you are the world.

And on that note I leave you with this…

Remember this ‘time’ is your life, and after this difficulty there will be another and another.  However if you can find the light in the darkness, the gratitude through the heartache and the memories in the moments then you, in my books at least, are winning at life.

Till the next inspiration.

XO

Jillian
